Breaking the Silence: A Veteran Art Show
Opening Aug 8, starting at 7pm.
Breaking the Silence is a juried exhibition of 30 works by Chicago-area veteran artists at the Oak Park Art League this August. Artist talks, live performances, and community events throughout the month. Free and open to the public.
Opening Reception | Breaking the Silence
Breaking the Silence kicks off tonight. This is the first night of a month-long exhibition of veteran-made work, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, filling the gallery at Oak Park Art League. Come see the show and meet the artists who made it.
Artist Talks & Poetry Readings | Breaking the Silence
Join us at Oak Park Art League as the artists behind Breaking the Silence step forward to talk about their work. Stick around after for Oak Park Art League's monthly poetry reading, open to all, running right behind the talks.
INTRODUCTION TO ART: OBSERVATIONAL SKETCHING
Join NCAG and Wounded Warrior Project at Oak Park Art League for an evening inside Breaking the Silence, the exhibition of veteran-made work on view through September 6. Instead of walking past the pieces, you'll sit with them. Sketch what you see. Talk about what you notice.
Closing Reception | Breaking the Silence
Join us for one last evening with the exhibition before it comes down. Revisit the pieces that stayed with you. Meet artists you might have missed the first time around. Say what needs saying before the walls go quiet again.
