Most people quit drawing around age ten because someone told them it didn't look right. You don't have to be good at this. You just have to be willing to look closely and make a mark.
Drawing 101 is a hands-on beginner's workshop led by Michael Bever, Army Ranger veteran, professional artist, and NCAG Chicago Artistic Director. Michael will walk you through the basics: how to see what's actually in front of you, how shapes build into form, and how to get it onto paper with a pencil.
What You'll Learn:
How to draw what you see, not what you think you see
Breaking a subject down into basic shapes
Line, shading, and value
Proportion and composition
How to keep going when you think a drawing isn't working
No experience necessary. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to play with materials.
What's Included: All supplies needed
Cost: $10 for general public (covers all supplies)
FREE for veterans, dependents, and caregivers
